Bullets won't be expecting favours

South-east Melbourne Magic's new import billy McCaffery will play against the man who saved his life - Brisbane Bullet Steve Woodberry - at the Brisbane Convention Center tomorrow (10/5/98).
But while McCaffery may be indebted to the Bullets' leading scorer, he warned his former Quad City Thunder CBA team-mate should not expect any special favors on the basketball court.
McCaffery said he and Woodberry were driving to training in Iowa, United States, in 1996 when the weather changed suddenly and the pair were trapped in an ice storm.
Woodberry was at the wheel and he tried to stop downhill on the frozen road but instead the car skidded 100 meters and then did three 360-degree rolls.
"We were out of control and we all thought we were going to die," McCaffery said. "But Woodberry somehow manoeuvred the car into a park, and the only thing damaged was a mirror."
McCaffery, rushed int o replace injured import Clinton McDaniel, said he was still adjusting to the style of the NBL leaders Magic (18-3).
He was a member of the 1996 Magic championship side.
Woodberry believes McCaffery, who had 10 points in his comeback match against Illawarra this week, would need little time settling in.
